Review of The Switch by Dawn Pendleton and Andrea Heltsley

0

Honor and Faith haven’t switched places since they were kids. When Honor begs her twin sister to go on a date with her boyfriend, Cameron, Faith reluctantly agrees. The problem is that she lets things go too far. Now Honor and Cameron have broken up and he won’t stop calling Faith, claiming he felt something more for her. The scary thing is, Faith felt it too. The problem, however, is the one rule that sisters and best friends abide by: don’t date their exes.

Honor has her own problems. Breaking it off with Cameron was the right thing to do, but now his best friend, Parker, won’t leave her alone. The more time they spend together, the more Honor starts to heal. Suddenly, Honor sees Parker as more than just a friend who cares – and she wants more.

Neither sister wants to complicate things further and cross those boundaries, but they can’t stop their emotions for the guys in their lives. Turns out, the switch is the one thing that has changed them forever.

Faith has been crushing over Cam for a long time now but that doesn't act on it because he's her sister's boyfriend. On the night of Honor and Cam's anniversary, Honor decided to switch places with Faith despite Faith reluctance and because Honor doesn't feel for him anymore. During the anniversary Faith kissed Cam wherein sparks fly but this is also became the reason why Faith and Honor strained the relationship between both sisters for a while. Although Cam and Honor mutually consented to break up and to remain as friends. Now, the situation became trickier when Cam wouldn't leave her alone and when Parker, Cam's best friend, wouldn't leave Honor alone as well. As both Honor and Faith spends more time with both Cam and Parker their feelings grew as well. Along side their relationship they have to face off bullying and fighting between friendships.

The story line was great and it tells about the point of view of both Faith and Honor. I enjoyed reading Faith's point of view at the beginning and on the later part not so much. And for Honor I kind of disliked her the whole story especially when she was being a over dramatic. But I enjoyed the story of the relationship between the sisters as the story goes one. It was a good read but it wasn't really satisfying.

The Art of Catching A Billionaire - I love the sense of humor of this book. The friendship between those three girls are just amazing. Plus meeting the Greek billionaire was pretty intense and steamy especially the reaction of Mairi. Some parts I couldn't stop laughing and others just makes you melt. But stupid Damen he makes me want to cry. You could feel the pain of Mairi which you'd have to read in order to find out.

Trapped Into A Marriage - Keyonna and Nick may have started a marriage of convenience but unbeknownst .to them they are perfect for each other. Especially Keyonna realizing that the man she last expects to be her happily ever after is her husband instead.

All books are unique but have a very steamy romance that will get you hooked up. These 10 billionaires will totally rock your world.

Release Day and Review of Isn't She Lovely by Lauren Layne

0

The rules are clear—until they’re broken. Lauren Layne puts a New Adult spin on Pygmalion, also the inspiration for Pretty Woman, and gives the classic love story its edgiest twist yet.

“Who knew that pretending you’re not falling for someone would be so much more difficult than pretending that you are?”

Stephanie Kendrick gave up her whole summer to ace her NYU film school screenwriting course, so she’s pissed to be stuck with a preppy, spoiled frat boy as her writing partner. Then again, with her piercings, black-rimmed eyes, and Goth wardrobe, Stephanie isn’t exactly Ethan Price’s type, either. He’s probably got his eye on some leggy blonde with a trust fund . . . or does he?

As the summer scene kicks off in the Hamptons, Ethan is desperate to make his snobbish mother forget the pedigreed girl who broke his heart. While Stephanie’s a stretch as a decoy, the right makeover and a pastel cardigan just might do the trick. She may not love the idea of playing Ethan’s brainless Barbie girlfriend, but the free rent and luxurious digs make a tempting offer. So does the promise of a ready-made screenplay idea inspired by their charade.

But when Stephanie steps into Ethan’s privileged world, the “acting” begins to feel all too real. The kissing and touching that were intended to fool the Hamptons crowd wind up manipulating them. And Stephanie faces a question she’s too afraid to ask: Is Ethan falling for the real her or for the dolled-up princess he wants to see?

REVIEW
4. 5 STARS
Isn't She Lovely is your modern day/ NYU twist version of the Pygmalion story.

It tells about Stephanie Kendrick, who is an NYU student who spent her summer attending a film class in order to avoid going back home. Her mother passed away before her high school graduation and then her dad moved them to North Carolina and remarried just a few months after her mother's death which strained her relationship with her father. Though another event happened the night on her mother's death which drastically changed her including her looks and attitude. She had to stay with cheating ex boyfriend for the mean time because her past living arrangement couldn't work out and she couldn't stay in the dorms that time. And well wouldn't that be awkward for her despite her never wanting to see and talk to him plus the ex drop a bomb which made her situation past the awkwardness.

She meets Ethan Price under an embarrassing situation on the way to class. Little did she know that he was also in her class added to that he is also her partner in a project which she couldn't get out.

Ethan Price is gorgeous and comes from old family. He's the same with Stephanie in avoiding going home by attending summer class but for a different reason. Ethan avoided working as an internship in his dad's business to actually avoid 4 persons. One of them was his ex girlfriend. I won't mention the others in order not to spoil it for you.

Because of Ethan's mother nagging him about getting it together again with Olivia he decided to act out the modern Pygmalion screenplay for their project. In truth, they would act out the characters themselves and they would write if for their play. His plan was for Stephanie to pretend to be his girlfriend and deceived Ethan's family in order to get his mother of his back. In exchange, Stephanie has to have the new image of a preppy girl but the new look was something she was before the incidents happened and Ethan would let her live with him rent free.

Now, as they spend more time together acting out their plan they both wonder if they are still acting or is there more to this screenplay?

What I loved about this book was when they actually pretended to be intimate. You can really feel that their feelings are a part of it despite that they act it out. Although they do kept on denying their feelings for one another, in the end they realized that they are past pretending.

I was a bit bored with Stephanie because it's predictable that she uses her goth look and attitude to protect herself but on the way to be pretending to be a new Stephanie which was also her in the past she got confused to which is the real her. At the same time, she wasn't sure if Ethan liked her for goth or new look. Also, as Ethan and her bonded more, he was able to help her move on from her past.

Ethan was a fun read and he too was able to move on from his past. Although he wasn't sure himself if he loved the goth or new version

This story was really sweet at the same time it was steamy. Lastly, Stephanie realizes who she truly was and that it also opened Ethan's eyes to accept her for herself.

I just have to say that this book is amazing. I couldn't put it down. Once you've read it, it will hook you up, you have no choice but to read it straight. Well for me that is...

Review of Wicked Sense by Fabio Bueno

0

Witches inhabit our world, organized in covens and hiding behind a shroud of secrecy—the Veil.

Skye’s London coven sends her to Seattle’s Greenwood High to find the Singularity, an unusually gifted witch who may break the Veil and trigger a dangerous new era of witch-hunting. Things get complicated when Skye meets a charming new classmate, Drake. Skye’s job becomes even trickier when she clashes with Jane, an intimidating rival witch.

Drake falls for the mysterious Skye, but odd accidents, potion mix-ups, and the occasional brush with death kind of get in the way of romance. Once he discovers Skye is a witch, he goes to war for her, even though his only weapons are a nice set of abs and a sharp sense of humor.

Fighting off wicked Jane and the other dark forces hell-bent on seizing the Singularity's immense power, Skye and Drake will risk everything to save the covens.

Going on a date has never been harder.

I loved this book. I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. The beginning was really interesting.
It tells about a Skye who is a "Sister" on a mission to look for the "Singularity", a powerful witch who is also being searched by foes. She arrived as a transfer student at Greenwood High School wherein she met Drake, friends, and foes. Skye has the power of both the Allure Charm and True Sight Charm which was the reason why she was sent by the "mothers". Skye's and Drake's forms a relationship with the help of their friends and along the way they also face dangers.

It was very interesting to read both Skye and Drake's point of view. I really could connect to these characters and they were very likable from the start especially Drake. Skye's has a strong personality but she also has those teen problems especially insecurity because of her Allure charm. For her she would probably look ugly if it wasn't for that charm. It's also due to ex - boyfriend, Conner.

Now, there's a character I hated the most. Connor is the rare male witch and is one of the mothers' chosen leader. Connor is pretty much a playboy and very conceited. He's power is the Trust Charm and that power speaks for itself. Well, there are other reasons why I hated him and you'll figure it out once you read this book.

I really enjoyed reading Drake's point of view. Drake is very sweet and I really like his personality. Did I mention that he's hot as well? Well, if not, he definitely is. It's nice to know what a guy thinks especially for his age. Drake is lucky that he has good friends who support him despite their teasing moments. He is also supportive of Skye and also a good older brother. His relationship with his sister was in that awkward phase but because he was able to share things with Skye, she was able to help him reconnect with his sister.
The story line was very interesting. It also had its funny moments but what I love most were the sweet moments. Despite it being a series, the ending was good.

I look forward to reading the next book!

Review of Escaping Reality by Lisa Renee Jones

0

Infinite possibilities….
Infinite passion…..
Infinite danger….

His touch spirals through me, warm and sweet, wicked and hot. I shouldn’t trust him. I shouldn’t tell him my secrets. But how do I not when he is the reason I breathe? He is what I need.

At the young age of eighteen, tragedy and a dark secret force Lara to flee all she has known and loves to start a new life. Now years later, with a new identity as Amy, she’s finally dared to believe she is forgotten–even if she cannot forget. But just when she lets down her guard, the ghosts of her past are quick to punish her, forcing her back on the run.

On a plane, struggling to face the devastation of losing everything again and starting over, Amy meets Liam Stone, a darkly entrancing recluse billionaire, who is also a brilliant, and famous, prodigy architect. A man who knows what he wants and goes after it. And what he wants is Amy. Refusing to take “no” as an answer, he sweeps her into a passionate affair, pushing her to her erotic limits. He wants to possess her. He makes her want to be possessed. Liam demands everything from her, accepting nothing less. But what if she is too devastated by tragedy to know when he wants more than she should give? And what if there is more to Liam than meets the eyes?

3.5 stars

The title 'Escaping Reality" is really in the sense what heroine Amy Bensen is trying in her life.

I didn't read the blurb of the story when I first read it so I got confused in the beginning.

This story tells about Amy Bensen (which isn't even her real name but Lara) about a past she's trying to escape. When she was 18 she lost her family to a fire which there wasn't more reference to this. Starting her life as Amy Bensen, she was able to escape her past until she received a message from handler (who saved her that time). Even though she didn't want to hide anymore, she still wanted to live.

On the way to her next stop she meets Liam Stone. Liam Stone a reclusive prodigy protege architect billionaire. He also has a dark past and never wanted anyone to get to know him till he met Amy. He wants her despite Amy's reluctance. Liam keeps Godzilla away and Amy wants and needs him because he is her escape from reality. When they are together she doesn't think of her past.

But the ending, Amy heard something she wasn't suppose to while looking for Liam but because of what she heard she couldn't trust him and runaway again.

It is confusing because it wasn't mentioned who was she running from and about what really happened 6 years ago. The book showed some glimpse in her past but not what information we really need. I kind of hated Amy along the way. I know she had a dark past but she's very indecisive about her actions. I'm glad that Liam persevered in getting under her skin which was good for her. They both compliment each other. More like they need each other.

And the ending, let's just say I never expected that. Now' I'm more confused about it.

Overall, I like the flow of the story. It was a bit slow for me in the beginning, plus Amy was getting on my nerve along the way. In the near end it got more interesting but the ending is a big a cliffhanger.

Do I want to read the second book? Yes. Definitely. More than ever I want to know about Amy's life before as Lara and why that conversation happened in the end.
