Review of Gilded Feathers (Gilded Feathers #1) by J. Woods

An alluring choice. A fantastical revelation. But what if it changed... everything?

Familiar with the art of the nightmare, twenty-two year old university student Cole Evans can’t help but feel a deep connection to the horrifying illusions of her slumber.

Irrevocably drawn to obscure fantasy, Cole faces a defiant temptation of romance and her first encounter with the mysterious Drex. Covered in tattoos, she unexpectedly finds herself attracted to his dark magnetism and emerald eyes. Before her life takes an impossible turn.

Uncovering Drex’s true Guardian identity, she is forced on a terrifying journey through the stars into his world - one that brilliantly weaves together the struggle of danger and desire. And the impossible reality of gilded feathers.

4.5 stars

I so loved the romance of Cole and Drex. At first, I was waiting for the paranormal genre to set in because the beginning seemed pretty normal. But as the story goes, the world around Cole changes and she is pulled in another world of Drex. Added to that, she learns something more important and set out to be confusing for her but with the support of Drex, she proves herself to be stronger. Although like every book there is always a conflict and she herself needs to watch out for the dangers that lurks around.
It really was a very interesting read. Once I learned about Drex world, I thought to myself there is more to Cole. And I was right but I was not expecting that twist in that plot.
I loved the friendship between Cole and Chloe. Despite her being an introvert, with the help of Chloe (more like she drags Cole), learns to enjoy more of life. Their friendship is truly beautiful and strong. And although they are different like day and night, they click.
Although, I was confused at first of Cole's dreams because I thought the beginning was like a prologue but eventually I understood it better near the ending. I can't wait for more andI will continue reading this series.
